Spettro Urbano, una non guida di Tokyo (Eris Edizioni) by Marta Fanasca and Damiana De Gennaro is a book written by two young authors with a deep passion for Japan. We asked them both who they consider the ideal reader of their book. This is how they replied:
Marta:
“This guide is for anyone who wishes to develop a critical perspective on the ambiguities of contemporary Japan.”
Damiana:
“I believe this is the right book for those who are not satisfied with merely skimming the surface of things. It is not a book for tourists looking for Instagrammable spots where they can take a photo to post on social media simply to say, ‘I’ve been there.’ It is for those who are genuinely interested in understanding a society and its dynamics, without seeking the postcard-perfect images that, however fascinating, are far from the everyday reality of Japan.”
